HTTPS is an acronym for the phrase Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure. It is the encrypted equivalent of HTTP, making it far more secure. When data is transferred between the web browser, the user's computer and the server hosting the page, encryption takes place using TLS or SSL. Nowadays, most sites have this type of certificate, as it is one of the factors that influence the positioning pages in Google.
